Finding the BEST Ayurvedic Institutes

[Jump to Top Ayurvedic Schools in USA, Canada and Europe]

Colleges which provide ayurvedic training, or ayurvedic institutes, can be found all over the world.

Though the holistic healing science of ayurveda originated in India, and many of the best ayurvedic institutes are located there, programs for training practitioners in this ancient medical art can be found in the United States, Canada, and Europe, as well as many other countries.

The Top Ayurvedic Institutes in INDIA

In India, good ayurvedic institutes are easy to locate and access. Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, located in Bangalore, has one of the most highly rated programs. At this ayurvedic institute, students receive training in the history of ayurveda, ayurvedic massage, ayurvedic herbs, homeopathy, pharmacology, and diagnosis from signals given off by the body.

Other ayurvedic institutes considered among the top in India are Lucknow University in Lucknow, Ayurvedic Medical College in Kolhapur, and State Ayurvedic College in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

Best Ayurveda Schools in USA, CANADA and EUROPE

Several U.S. ayurvedic institutes rival those in India and offer concentrated programs to train students in the practice of ayurveda. Kerala offers several ayurveda academies throughout the west, including programs in Arizona, California, New York, Texas, and Washington.

The ayurvedic institutes also offer distance learning programs for those wishing to obtain knowledge of ayurveda but do not live near any of the centers.

The American University of Complementary Medicine in Beverly Hills and the Holistic Life Institute in Oakdale, California also offer excellent training.

In Canada, ayurvedic institutes can be found in British Columbia and Ontario. The Still Waters Institute Apprenticeship in World Medicine offers an excellent program, as does the Academy of Ayurvedic Medicine in Toronto.

The main office of the Ayurvedic Indian Medical Society is in Europe, and this organization coordinates and oversees the training programs for ayurvedic institutes in European countries to ensure they are quality programs.

Ayurvedic Training for Traditional Medical Practitioners

Ayurvedic institutes are not just for professionals who wish to receive degrees in this field of natural medicine; they also provide excellent training for doctors, nurses, chiropractors, and therapists which can add to their traditional training.

Students searching for the best ayurvedic institutes should carefully research each program before making a final decision about which training is most suitable for their situation.

Hi Thomas,
Unfortunately we are not sure about the institutes in those countries. You will have to do your own research and use your judgement.
Good luck!

Hi! I had read some good and bad reviews about Kerala……and trying to discern between the few…. do you know of any that offer distance learning ?

Thanks !

Hi Joseph,
While we can not recommend you any program at the moment, you may want to search Google for “Ayurveda distance learning”.
My search shows several programs in US, Europe, and India. You may want to do a little digging to find what’s best.
Do share your updates with our readers!
Good luck!
